So great to be featuring a customer's creation today with our #shareyoursewing hash tag. Davina from Junk Monkies, maker of kids clothes has made this fabulous Wiksten Tank Top in the Fleur de Peaux fabric - shows this fabric off beautifully! Davina does fab little details in her designs, I like the pocket trim idea. With enough left over from a metre she also made some little girl shorts. They're awesome, check out the lace?!! Wiksten Tank Top made in Blue Wave Ikat

So before the summer is out I must show some pictures of my blue Ikat top! I've made lots of these Wiksten Tank Tops, it's quite a simple flattering shape and it becomes a summer make every year for me. This homespun Indian cotton has a gorgeous slubby type texture to it and the blues are amazing. Another thing with this sewing pattern is it works well with french seams and I updated my skills this time from a great tutorial by Made to Sew. Faberwood will definitely be getting some more indian cotton, similar to this, next year. You can find the last remaining metre of Blue Wave...

Alexandria Peg Trousers made with Atelier Brunette Swoon fabric

Really happy to have settled on this sewing pattern for my Atelier Brunette Swoon fabric! These Alexandria Peg Trousers by Named Clothing really do suit this style of fabric. I did find the pattern a little challenging at first, the pocket system seemed a little complicated to me, plus I kept forgetting which line I was following when cutting them out! It was a slow project as I made them in the school holidays with the kids at home, so I was forced to take my time, but that turned out to be a good thing. I really like the Named Clothing patterns, this...

Lou Box Top sewing pattern made in Black Ikat fabric

One of the best things about the new Faberblog is it gives me a chance to talk a bit more in depth about our fabrics. As I create garments I can learn a bit more about how the fabric handles and pass on this vital information. I've been really excited about this Black Fire Ikat fabric and I decided that a nice boxy top would suit it. This Lou Box top from Sew DIY fitted the bill perfectly, the pattern is actually lots of tops rolled into one and has lots of style options. Traditionally made handloom Indian cotton woven into a gorgeous geometric design. It was quite...

April Rhodes Staple Dress made in Atelier Brunette Bye Bye Birdie Fabric

I made this dress last year, before Faberwood.com was ever even thought of. In fact, this Atelier Brunette Bye Bye Birdie fabric was the catalyst in my dream of opening a fabric shop! It's still one of my all time favourites - the best bit being it doesn't date and even though it's a light weight fabric, it really isn't just for summer... love it, love it, love it! This April Rhodes Staple Dress was quite easy to put together, no buttons, no zips just some funky shear stitching going on around the waist. The dipped hemline is lovely on this dress and what better way...
