I'm still working my way sewing through the Edge Collection fabrics, a range I designed myself, exclusively hand woven for us in India. This Stanage Ikat design is inspired by the granite boulders that run along the landscapes on the outskirts of Sheffield. In a bid to not give in to winter, I wanted to share a make in this Lithuanian linen fabric from our collection. The Bantam top sewing pattern by Merchant and Mills is from their amazing work book. This top is lovely to wear and linen is just right, especially in the heat. I love that this sewing pattern fits me well, a lot of vest styles are usually too low at the chest. The bias binding on the neckline is a little fiddly, it's worth taking the time as you get this perfect shape that sits beautifully. Please excuse the bra straps and a creased look but it's real! ...

Just returned from our very chilled trip to Ibiza for our family holiday. The further North you go the more relaxed it gets! I made this self drafted halter top for my daughter Amber in our hand dyed African damask (her favourite Faberwood fabric). We decided this was the perfect time for a summer top going for that boho vibe. This fabric is very unique, hand dyed in Africa onto a damask cotton, for a luxurious feel. I love making things like this, where you make things to tie and fit as you go along, a good dose of DIY style!

This is my first make using fabric from our new bespoke Ikat collection. Having three designs to pick from I've had a little trouble deciding which one to start on first! I've been deliberating over sewing patterns to sew up with our new Faberwood Ikat fabric. Handloom fabrics due to their relaxed and natural weave are fabulous and comfortable to wear in any season. They also tend to 'settle' in once sewn up and washed into a stylish garment featuring that light slub style with a worn in look. That's what I love the most about these textiles, it's in the nature, expect some mismatched threads here and there!   I have to admit I almost gave up on this project. I've had this Silvia Coatigan sewing pattern printed and cut out for around 2 years and just never came across the right fabric. Last Autumn I found this wool mix coating from the Knitting and Stitching Show in Harrogate. With Christmas coming up I wanted a jacket to throw on whilst flying around in the car visiting the relatives.
