I had my eye on this Thayer Jacket by Grainline Studio as soon as it came out and also had the fabric in mind too with this Robert Kaufman Ventana Twill. After a little episode of decision anxiety I finally settled on the Brick Brown for the main fabric and this Brown Mammoth Flannel for the lining. Then I had another indecisive episode over which fabric to use for the collar! I initially wanted to use the flannel but I wasn't happy with the way the plaid sat on the small area so I kept it all in the twill. I love these rich...

Finally my husband gets something made for him! This is one of my favourite fabrics to sew with, it's warm, high quality and has a brushed backing. Hand made sweatshirts are my go to most days so I wanted to make one for Mr T's birthday. This is the dark grey anthracite fleece from The Organic Textile Company and also the ribbing is in the same colour match (perfection!) This was going to be a timeless and minimal basic make to stand the test of time. I had to make this in secret, a little tricky for fitting issues as well as hiding all evidence...

I had to follow our last blog of 'making for guys' with this fabulous make by one of our customers Suzy who is based in Spain. Suzy wanted to make something for her husband to wear on the cooler Spanish days and kindly shared these photographs with us. This is the Fairfield Button Up by Thread Theory made in our Burgundy Mammoth Flannel. The details are so good and I am envious of Suzy's professional finish. I love this make that shows off our fabric perfectly, not to mention that perfect Spanish view! Beautifully modelled, Westy, thank you : )

I have a long standing passion for a plaid flannel dress, the thing is I don't wear dresses very often! I really like the idea of using plaids in interesting ways rather than them only thinking of button up shirts or lounge pants. These are what inspire me, some beautiful winter unique styles. One of my favourites for cosy styling is Toast This style is taken from Plumo, love this and with the socks! This shirt dress style I love for it's casual feel This is interesting from Lazy Oaf, I like the contrast buttons A classic shirt style by...

I want to share some ideas I have on what to make in our Ventana twill fabric. This post covers just jackets and trouser sewing patterns that have been inspiring me recently. If you follow my Instagram account it's possible you've already heard me talking about some of these makes. I'm always impressed at the amount of independent pattern makers out there, these are a few of my favourite. My exploration for sewing patterns is almost as strong as it is for fabric, I use mainly PDF downloadable files but they all usually available on paper too. Lander Pant by True Bias These are currently queuing in my make...
