Excited to add this beautiful rust handwoven fabric to our collection! Kotpad handloom is a vegetable-dyed fabric woven by the tribal weavers of the Mirgan community in the Odisha region of India. These ethically produced cottons are woven using age-old traditions to make fabrics without the use of chemicals, they describe their work as 'a stunning amalgamation of nature's gifts & human ingenuity'. These textiles have been woven with particular care and love and the odd little uneven threads and slub texture are all part of their charm.
I love the rustic feel of these, they are slightly different to our other Indian cottons and feel more textured almost like a crepe. Suitable items to make in this would be styles to suit linen, it's an opaque fabric with a feeling of lightness and flow.
Note: Hand-woven fabrics can vary in shade and tone, due to the natural dying techniques used
