I couldn't be happier adding this ethically produced fabric to Faberwood! This Kotpad handloom is a vegetable-dyed fabric woven by the tribal weavers of the Mirgan community in the Odisha region of India. These organically produced cottons are woven using age-old traditions to make fabrics without the use of chemicals, they describe their work as 'a stunning amalgamation of nature's gifts & human ingenuity'. These textiles have been woven with particular care and love and the odd little uneven threads and slub texture are all part of their charm.

You can see the wonderful earthy tones in the grey of this fabric giving it great depth. This is a good homespun textile in a fabulous basic colour feeling a little different to our other Indian cottons. On handling it feels more textured like linen and has an opaque appearance, lightweight but still substantial.

Note: Hand-woven fabrics can vary in shade and tone, due to the natural dying techniques used
