Burbage Edge Handloom Indian Ikat
Burbage Edge Handloom Indian Ikat
About two miles out into the countryside on the Derbyshire side of Sheffield you are met with these wonderful gritstone ledges. Slabs of rocks and boulders stretching for miles along the horizon. I imagined a staggered type of fabric design using the Ikat pattern, I like the 'roughness' that this type of weave creates. Our suppliers in India produce these traditional textiles and have woven this exclusively for us. I wanted this mono design to have an airy pattern with a simple modern look and the cotton is weaved using that lovely washed black tone. All the fabrics in our bespoke 'Edge' collection are lovely and soft, untreated with natural dyes and are perfect for all types of clothing. This is a raw 'slub' of cloth that can feature little imperfections which I love!
As with all these types of untreated Indian handloom fabric please pre-wash separately with mild detergent before use to remove any excess dye and to allow for shrinkage. These fabrics also soften with more wash and wear, please expect that little natural 'washed' look!
