Japanese Fine Brushed Cotton Plaid by Hokkoh

You can always rely on Hokkoh of Japan to produce refined fabrics that are so perfect for dressmaking. Contemporary design meets precision textile print producing something quite elegant. It is a long process when sourcing fabric from Japan, there is a lot of waiting and patience needed, I even forget what I've selected sometimes! When they finally do arrive I am instantly mesmerised and reminded of the beauty and timeless style.

This is light to mid weight plain weave cotton, feels like a batiste with a smooth brushed finish which is very subtle giving a matt feel. I love this classic plaid design printed black onto a light beige base with its lines that give it a textured appearance like it has been woven in, it has a real graphical element to it. 

This would make an impressive and very pleasing dress or a shirt, it is crisp so you could also make lighter weight trousers, perfect for any time of year. Think of sewing patterns that call for shirting, this has the feel of a cotton lawn but it is heavier and has a very fine professional finish to it.
