Stanage Edge Handloom Indian Ikat

Price per ½ metre. Shipping calculated at checkout.

This is a Faberwood exclusive fabric, part of the 'Edge' collection designed by us! This Ikat design is inspired by the landscape of Sheffield's grit and sandstone uplands known as 'edges'. Produced by our supplier in India on handlooms, they've just matched my imagination and I can't explain how much of a buzz I get from this! This is a light/medium weight untreated cloth with a 'washed' type of black base with simple shades of white, grey and 'rusty' pink woven in the design. I wanted the colours to represent the ever changing tones of the Peak District and combine them within a spacious design. Stanage edge is the nearest and most well known edge to us, often frequented by climbers it always has a great friendly vibe.

The thing I love most about Ikat weaving is the texture it creates within the design, it feels earthy and no two metres are exactly the same. Expect little imperfections in this type of cloth, it's soft, natural and makes fabulous clothes for anytime of year. Also, there are no rules applying to the direction of the grainline, use this fabric anyway you like. You can even combine it with the rest of 'Edge' range I designed too. Happy sewing days ahead!

As with all these types of untreated Indian handloom fabric please pre-wash separately with mild detergent before use to remove any excess dye and to allow for shrinkage. These fabrics also soften with more wash and wear, please expect that little natural 'washed' look!
