'Bamford Edge' Handloom Chambray Indian Ikat
Along the trails of one of my favourite walks, Bamford Edge, there is an abundance of pink and purple heather intermingled with fern, stacks of it. As the seasons change, the colours turn a deep earthy brown which you can see for miles all over the Peak District. These earthy pleasures along with the rocks and boulders of gritstone are what gave me the inspiration for the Faberwood 'Edge' collection. This fabric has been exclusively woven for us by a wonderful Indian supplier. Traditional techniques of pink and black threads creating a crosshatch pattern, these handloom masters have transferred the colours in my head into a textile and it's just awesome!
This handloom process produces a nice softness, it's quite light and floaty and has a slightly less dense feel than our other black designs due to the chambray technique. Think of a gauze type of cotton, it would make a great tunic or dress with the pattern direction working anyway you like!
As with all these types of untreated Indian handloom fabric please pre-wash separately with mild detergent before use to remove any excess dye and to allow for shrinkage. These fabrics also soften with more wash and wear, please expect that little natural 'washed' look!
