Make it in Ventana Twill - Dreaming of jackets and trousers

I want to share some ideas I have on what to make in our Ventana twill fabric. This post covers just jackets and trouser sewing patterns that have been inspiring me recently. If you follow my Instagram account it's possible you've already heard me talking about some of these makes. I'm always impressed at the amount of independent pattern makers out there, these are a few of my favourite. My exploration for sewing patterns is almost as strong as it is for fabric, I use mainly PDF downloadable files but they all usually available on paper too.

Lander Pant by True Bias

These are currently queuing in my make list, a change from jeans that I live in daily! I like the buttons and pockets on these and this green pair is my most book marked as a favourite. I've got the pattern cut out ready to make a pair in our Ventana twill. I think I will choose the Smoke blue, these should be a nice project to work on ready for Spring. These also now have a modification available for a zip fastening.

Persephone Pants by Anna Allen

Another wide leg make that is all over instagram, some really inspiring styles that I've been looking of these trousers. I was very close to trying these but thought they may be a little too high waist for me, they do look great on other people and they also come with a shorts option too.

The Robert Pant by Republique du Chiffon

Beautifully shaped trousers by French brand Republique du Chiffon. It is the seam details on these that I love and the covered buttons, really stylish and elegant and possibly a much more flattering shape for my fairly short body!

Gaston Pants by Republique du Chiffon

I thought these looked similar to the Persephone pant, I love that all these trousers look so good in colourful fabric! Another beautiful pattern from Republique du Chiffon. I like that you can add pockets alternatives on these.

Julien Chore Jacket by Ready to Sew

Julien chore jacket

So there may be a French theme going on here...this is also in my jacket making list, I like making jackets! Love the relaxed vibe with this style and it will be a gorgeous 'UK Summer' wear for me. I have already decided to make it in this gorgeous Beryl green Ventana twill. This next photo from Two Thirds is where I got the inspiration from...

The Ottoline by Merchant & Mills

I was really close to choosing this when I eventually settled on the Thayer for my current make. Cannot go wrong with Merchant & Mills, I'm sure I will end up making this at some point anyway! Looks great in a classic denim or a twill.

Thayer jacket by Grainline Studio

One of my all time favourite pattern brands, I am currently making this jacket and I can honestly say I'm loving the process, even though at first I was a little daunted by the details. I've seen so many variations crop up since I started it, it's quite a new release and I'm trying not to get knocked off track with all the style variations I keep seeing around. This cord version is gorgeous, as I'm getting further involved in this make my mind is whirring over other options, like sherpa, cord and wool....! Love Grainline and here are my fabric selections that I picked Ventana Twill Brick Brown and Mammoth Flannel Plaid Brown

The Ilford Jacket by Friday Pattern Company

Seeing this crop up on my Instagram has had me nearly changing my mind on all my sewing plans, there are so many awesome jacket patterns out there! Love this none gender appeal, a relaxed utility look that's perfect for sewing with twill fabric. I've also also seen some fab chunky cord and wool plaids in this, roll on next Winter I have big plans!
